Hello everyone! I’m Dr. D Bhuvana, a general surgeon specializing in pediatric surgery. Today, I want to warn you about a common childhood snack that causes a hidden cycle of health issues: biscuits. Processed snacks like biscuits are highly refined and extremely low in fiber, which dries out the digestive tract and leads directly to pediatric constipation. When a child becomes chronically constipated, the retained, hard stool swells inside the pelvis and physically presses against the bladder neck. This pressure prevents the bladder from emptying completely, leaving behind stagnant urine that acts as a perfect breeding ground for bacteria—directly causing frequent Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs). Leaving this untreated risks chronic urinary infections, painful anal fissures, and long-term bladder issues. Fortunately, replacing these snacks with water and high-fiber foods can break this cycle early.
